Sample assessment
The record contains separate sandstone and shale charges. It addresses material movement rather than a numerical fineness threshold.
Analyst consideration: Because the objective is specifically no caking, inspection of the bottom and recovered deposits is the primary assessment. Sandstone and shale should remain distinct samples rather than being treated as one generic rock.
Recorded objective
Resolve bottom settling and compacted-layer formation.
Equipment and selection
The machine entry is XQM. TENCAN Vertical Planetary Ball Mill is associated at the recorded series level. No exact housing variant is inferred from jar capacity or an abbreviated machine label.
Test setup
| Jar entry | Zirconia jar250ml |
|---|---|
| Media entry | Zirconia balls |
| Media-charge notation | Standard charge; individual specification not recorded |
| Sample-load entry | Sandstone 57gShale 54g |
| Controller speed setting | 350 |
| Cycle notation | 5/1 |
Unlabelled jar, media and load numbers remain source notation, not assigned units. Controller settings are not certified rpm. The cycle notation has no independently stated timing unit or reversing definition.
Recorded procedure and results
A 250 mL zirconia jar with zirconia balls was recorded. The sandstone charge was 57 g and the shale charge was 54 g. For each material the dry trial was normal at setting 350 after thirty minutes, setting 400 after sixty minutes and setting 500 after ninety minutes. The result explicitly states that the requirement was achieved.
Interpretation
The positive outcome directly matches the no-caking objective for both recorded charges. Normal operation does not prove a particular final fineness or an equivalent response for other rocks, and the different materials remain separate observations.
Practical precautions
Inspect the bottom and measure recovered deposits when repeating. Preserve separate sandstone and shale records and add particle-size measurements only if a new fineness objective is introduced.
TENCAN alternatives to evaluate
TENCAN Compact Horizontal Planetary Ball Mill. A horizontal planetary trial can compare movement of the separate sandstone and shale charges. Use the same no-caking objective and thirty-, sixty- and ninety-minute inspections. A horizontal arrangement changes gravity relative to planetary motion, providing a direct alternative for the same material-movement objective without introducing a new fineness claim. This is an untested comparison proposal, not a result of this trial.
Association follows the explicit XQM source entry; only recorded tested series/configurations are related. No jar-volume inference.
