TENCANPLANETARY BALL MILLS

Glass powder: a recorded 12.6 µm result in a five-hour planetary stage.

Glass powder: a recorded 12.6 µm result in a five-hour planetary stage. The target was written as 1000 mesh with a separate 13 µm reference; no equivalence is assumed.

Sample assessment

The sample was glass powder with an initial D90 of 75.3 µm. A long roller-mill exploration preceded the successful planetary comparison.

Analyst consideration: For glass powder, fragment fracture and agglomerate breakup should be distinguished when interpreting a finer sample. The long preceding roller sequence makes equivalent feed preparation and measurement especially important.

Recorded objective

The target was written as 1000 mesh with a separate 13 µm reference; no equivalence is assumed.

Equipment and selection

The successful stage is explicitly planetary, but its exact family and model are not recorded. TENCAN Laboratory Planetary Grinder is supplied as a catalog platform reference only; it is not identification of the tested machine.

Test setup

Planetary-stage jarZirconia; capacity not recorded
Planetary-stage mediaZirconia balls; mass not recorded
Planetary-stage chargeNot recorded
Planetary-stage sample loadNot recorded
Planetary-stage speed settingNot recorded
Planetary-stage cycleNot recorded

Unlabelled jar, media and load numbers remain source notation, not assigned units. Controller settings are not certified rpm. The cycle notation has no independently stated timing unit or reversing definition.

Recorded procedure and results

The preceding roller stage gave 62.8 µm at 120 minutes, 51.8 µm at 240 minutes, 43 µm at seven hours and 35.5 µm at sixteen hours, with persistent rim adhesion. Its changes included removing 25 mm balls, adding 400 g of 15/12/10/8 mm balls, returning to a standard charge and drying four hours. After switching to a planetary mill with zirconia jar and balls, five hours gave 12.6 µm and was described as acceptable.

Interpretation

The favorable 12.6 µm outcome belongs to the five-hour planetary stage. The source does not explicitly repeat a percentile on that value, and the exact planetary family was not named. Roller settings are not planetary settings.

Practical precautions

Confirm the planetary charge, family and measurement statistic before repetition. Retain the separate stage timing and numerical 13 µm reference without substituting an assumed mesh conversion.

TENCAN alternatives to evaluate

TENCAN Vertical Planetary Ball Mill. A specified XQM vertical setup can be evaluated for the glass-powder five-hour comparison. Match zirconia contact and confirm the 12.6 µm measurement statistic rather than transferring roller settings. A specified XQM vertical platform provides a documented planetary impact-and-friction baseline with the same zirconia contact, so an unnamed successful stage can be compared without borrowing roller conditions. This is an untested comparison proposal, not a result of this trial.

Exact successful planetary family/model not recorded; the TENCAN Laboratory Planetary Grinder catalog page is a catalog platform reference only.
