Sample assessment
The source covers electrolytic and atomized nickel powders as distinct feed types. Initial distributions and alloying details were not supplied.
Analyst consideration: The nickel objective is deliberate flake formation, so a smaller spherical-particle distribution would not establish success. Assessment should consider shape, thickness and aspect ratio for each feed type.
Recorded objective
Convert the powders to flake morphology.
Equipment and selection
The machine entry is XQM. TENCAN Vertical Planetary Ball Mill is associated at the recorded series level. No exact housing variant is inferred from jar capacity or an abbreviated machine label.
Test setup
| Jar entry | Unresolved shorthand; full specification not recorded |
|---|---|
| Media entry | Hard alloy balls |
| Media-charge notation | Standard charge; individual specification not recorded |
| Sample-load entry | 200g |
| Controller speed setting | 350 |
| Cycle notation | 5/1 |
Unlabelled jar, media and load numbers remain source notation, not assigned units. Controller settings are not certified rpm. The cycle notation has no independently stated timing unit or reversing definition.
Recorded procedure and results
A stainless-steel vacuum-type jar and hard-alloy media were recorded. Electrolytic nickel was evacuated, filled with argon and milled at setting 350 for twenty-four hours before sampling. Atomized nickel was dry milled with evacuation and argon at the same setting for twenty-four hours. The result explicitly states that the flaking objective was attained.
Interpretation
The accepted result is morphology conversion, not a particular size distribution or alloying reaction. The forty-eight-hour duration entry spans the two descriptions and must not be assigned to each sample. No flake thickness or aspect-ratio measurement was supplied.
Practical precautions
Keep the two powder types and atmosphere procedures separate. Confirm morphology by an agreed method and record the actual jar pressure and media charge before repeating.
TENCAN alternatives to evaluate
TENCAN Omnidirectional Planetary Ball Mill. For nickel flaking, an omnidirectional comparison can examine powder movement under a compatible argon-jar arrangement. Keep the two feed types separate and compare flake morphology after twenty-four hours. QXQM tumbling changes contact orientation and redistribution, allowing a morphology comparison under matched atmosphere and duration without assuming that additional motion improves flake quality. This is an untested comparison proposal, not a result of this trial.
Association follows the explicit XQM source entry; only recorded tested series/configurations are related. No jar-volume inference.
