Sample assessment
The feed was square iron particles. The purpose was edge treatment rather than grinding to a specified particle-size distribution.
Analyst consideration: Edge treatment of iron is a morphology task: deformation or slight edge changes can satisfy the actual qualitative objective without extensive size reduction. The accepted specimen should therefore be the reference for assessment.
Recorded objective
Reduce sharp edges to an acceptable qualitative condition.
Equipment and selection
The successful stage is explicitly planetary, but its exact family and model are not recorded. TENCAN Laboratory Planetary Grinder is supplied as a catalog platform reference only; it is not identification of the tested machine.
Test setup
| Jar entry | Stainless steel jar 100ml |
|---|---|
| Media entry | Stainless steel balls |
| Media-charge notation | Standard charge; individual specification not recorded |
| Sample-load entry | 20g |
| Controller speed setting | 860 |
| Cycle notation | 5/1 |
Unlabelled jar, media and load numbers remain source notation, not assigned units. Controller settings are not certified rpm. The cycle notation has no independently stated timing unit or reversing definition.
Recorded procedure and results
The initial trial showed no change at three minutes and a little change by twenty-three minutes. The procedure then changed to horizontal planetary operation with a 250 mL steel jar and steel balls, setting 670. At seven minutes the change was still described as small, but the sample was expressly accepted. The original setup lists a 100 mL stainless-steel jar and setting 860.
Interpretation
The supported success is recorded acceptance of the edge-treatment sample, not a large measured rounding effect. The horizontal-stage family is not identified, so no specific WXQM model is inferred from the mode alone.
Practical precautions
Define an edge or morphology check for the next trial. Keep the original and horizontal configurations separate and confirm which machine produced the accepted sample.
TENCAN alternatives to evaluate
TENCAN Omnidirectional Planetary Ball Mill. An omnidirectional trial can be considered for the iron-particle edge objective. Compare morphology against the accepted seven-minute horizontal observation using a defined edge assessment. QXQM assembly tumbling changes the orientation of particle contacts, providing a specific morphology comparison rather than assuming longer or faster milling produces more acceptable rounding. This is an untested comparison proposal, not a result of this trial.
Exact successful planetary family/model not recorded; the TENCAN Laboratory Planetary Grinder catalog page is a catalog platform reference only.
