TENCANPLANETARY BALL MILLS

Ferrite powder: recorded D50 reduction from 3.5 to 0.6 µm.

Sample assessment

The ferrite arrived as powder with incoming D50 3.5 µm and D90 8.4 µm. A 300 g charge was processed after a separate deionized-water wash of the steel contact system. The ball-charge notation and milling-liquid condition are incomplete, so these need clarification before the measured endpoint becomes a reproducible recipe.

Recorded objective

A recorded D50 objective of 1 µm.

Equipment and selection

The source identifies XQM family. The related TENCAN product association is Vertical Planetary Ball Mill. This identifies the recorded equipment family, rather than an independently verified serial-number configuration. Jar contact materials and charge details below are test observations; an unspecified steel grade or ball-percentage basis is not supplied by the association.

Test setup

Recorded setupXQM planetary family; stainless steel jar and steel balls; 300 g powder; header setting 420; run/pause cycle recorded as 5:1; interval units unspecified. The charge field contains an unexplained 2/4/4 notation.
Speed notationValues are retained as recorded speed settings. The source does not identify the revolution/rotation reference; no separate jar speed is inferred.

Recorded procedure and results

The incoming ferrite measured D50 = 3.5 µm and D90 = 8.4 µm. Before adding material, the jar and balls were washed for 60 minutes using supplied deionized water. The subsequent two-hour milling sample measured D50 = 0.6 µm and D90 = 3.3 µm. The duration field records two hours for milling, keeping the preparatory wash separate. The note does not specify the liquid charge during milling or explain the ball-charge notation.

Interpretation

The observed median is below the numerical D50 objective and is substantially lower than the incoming median. The D90 also declined, but it remained above 3 µm; the reported success therefore concerns the specified median. The washing step is a recorded preparation condition rather than proof of contamination removal. No elemental assay, magnetic-performance test or repeatability series was included, and the record does not identify a ferrite grade.

Practical precautions

Clarify whether the jar was drained after washing and document any milling liquid before reproduction. Resolve the ball-charge notation and record ball mass and sizes. Verify particle dispersion consistently, and assess steel contact against the ferrite application.

TENCAN alternatives to evaluate

TENCAN Omnidirectional Planetary Ball Mill: Evaluate the QXQM family only after clarifying the ferrite wash, liquid condition and ball charge. Keep contact materials and the D50 acceptance method consistent so a change in orientation can be judged without conflating it with a different preparation recipe. This is a recommendation for a new comparison, not an observed result of this trial.

Endpoint context: D50 = 0.6 µm; D90 = 3.3 µm after two hours of milling.

Tested equipment association only: XQM family; exact machine variant not inferred. Alternative products are evaluation candidates in the body only.
