TENCANPLANETARY BALL MILLS

Diamond powder: measured reduction during a one-hour planetary trial.

Diamond powder: measured reduction during a one-hour planetary trial. Planetary sample at 60 minutes: D50 = 0.6 µm; D90 = 2.48 µm.

Particle sizes for the recorded sample and sampling time.

Sample assessment

The incoming diamond powder was already micron-scale, with a much smaller median than its D90. The purpose of this short trial was to observe a one-hour milling response. Stainless steel contact and steel media were used; the record supplies particle sizes but no evidence about diamond structure, purity or end-use performance.

Recorded objective

A one-hour milling trial; no particle-size acceptance limit was stated.

Equipment and selection

The source identifies XQM family. The related TENCAN product association is Vertical Planetary Ball Mill. This identifies the recorded equipment family, rather than an independently verified serial-number configuration. Jar contact materials and charge details below are test observations; an unspecified steel grade or ball-percentage basis is not supplied by the association.

Test setup

Recorded setupXQM vertical planetary family; stainless steel jar and steel balls; 70 g powder; header setting 500; run/pause cycle recorded as 5:1; interval units unspecified. The header lists 15 mm balls at 50% and 12/10 mm balls at 50%, without a percentage basis.
Speed notationValues are retained as recorded speed settings. The source does not identify the revolution/rotation reference; no separate jar speed is inferred.

Recorded procedure and results

The incoming diamond powder had D50 = 2.1 µm and D90 = 4.7 µm. A 60-minute dry planetary run gave D50 = 0.6 µm and D90 = 2.48 µm. A separate roller-mill comparison used a stainless steel roller jar, 120 g material and steel balls at setting 300 for 60 minutes; that sample gave D50 = 2 µm and D90 = 4.7 µm. The total duration field records two hours across the comparisons.

Interpretation

The planetary stage produced favorable reductions in both supplied percentiles within the requested hour. That measured change supports publication beyond the fact that the trial was completed. The roller values belong to a different machine and charge and are retained as separate context. They do not establish a controlled efficiency comparison, because charge mass, motion and speed conditions differ. No crystalline damage, contamination or application performance measurements were provided.

Practical precautions

Check contact wear and the representativeness of the small particle-analysis sample. Retain the same dispersion protocol before and after milling, and record ball mass and size fractions if the one-hour outcome is to be reproduced.

TENCAN alternatives to evaluate

TENCAN Benchtop Planetary Ball Mill: Evaluate the XQM-A benchtop family for a documented small-charge repeat of the one-hour diamond trial. Confirm jar/media compatibility and compare both D50 and D90 at equal sampling time; the present roller comparison does not establish another planetary-family advantage. This is a recommendation for a new comparison, not an observed result of this trial.

Endpoint context: Planetary sample at 60 minutes: D50 = 0.6 µm; D90 = 2.48 µm.

Tested equipment association only: XQM family; exact machine variant not inferred. Alternative products are evaluation candidates in the body only.
